I like working with Alison Fradkin’s material because she has this great way with words. My first foray into her writing occurred last year with the very successful Girl, You Know It’s True Colors. This year, my two person cast is bringing to light another fast-paced better-listen-closely-to-the-nuances production which Fradkin is so good at. I hope to work with her some day on a full length script.

Ellen Bennett, Director

The play “Good Counsel 1949” is about a young gay man seeking the counsel of an older gay man about how to survive in the world of 1949 when things were much worse than they are today. We still have a way to go but in general people are more accepting today. I enjoy this kind of what I call seat-of-the-pants theater and consider it proof you can do quality entertaining and or thought provoking theater without spending a fortune.

Fred Western, Director

I have immensely enjoyed bring Moment(um) and Defenders of the Tender Gender Bender to the stage. These pieces and the other productions QTK produces allows a voice that deserves to be heard a forum that is supportive and uplifting. As a life long ally I’m am honored to have a part in an organization committed to inclusion and excellence.

Lisa Marie Campbell, Director

The Summer Shorts Play Festival is back and ready to bring you more great entertainment. This year we bring you staged readings of three ten-minute plays and one featured one-act, including playwrights from Michigan, Illinois and New York. Enjoy this free festival of plays, put on by amazing local talent.
