Executive Director's Appeal

When I reflect on my years in Kalamazoo, I immediately remember the people I’ve had the great fortune of meeting. I found community, support, and lifelong friends in the WMU Theatre program, in my roommates, and in my coworkers. If I had never found that, I worry about the path my life could have taken.

Too often are LGBTQ+ people in dire need of that community, but they don’t know where to look, or they feel intimidated and anxious. For many of us, we had that love and support until we chose to live life authentically as our real selves. Many others don’t have even that luxury.  This is a real problem affecting real people. We don’t like that.

This is the mission of Queer Theatre Kalamazoo. To provide a space where anybody can explore, create, share, and live without fear. Then we provide an opportunity for those people to share their art to advocate for our community, and for themselves.

I am deeply honored to be a part of this organization whose mission is so honorable and necessary, and I would love to share that with you. Right now, we need funding so we can pay our artists and move to an accessible space. Join us by making a gift. Alternatively, click here to learn about other opportunities to get involved.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you for participating in any capacity that you have. We all hope to see you soon!
